I got so annoyed Friday waiting for Public
transportation! Don’t these people know I have a party to get to?! Finally I
just took a deep breath and relaxed. After what seems like eternity and a day,
the Bus drops me off across the street from the studio. I waited for what felt
like the longest light in the history of mankind and then crossed the street
and ascended the stairs breathing in the sweet air of the studio.
The tables were all decorated with glitter lips
and chocolate for Valentine’s Day and the dance being taught was Rumba, of
course- the dance of love! Maxi was teaching and class was in full swing. I
must say it has been a joy to see him come into his own as an instructor, He
truly pours his heart into teaching.
I always want to dance to every song and tonight
was no different- my favorite dances of the evening started with the East Coast
swing with Masha- she threw in some challenging new moves I hadn’t seen before.
She told me that she could see improvements, and that had me beaming with pride.
I also got to do a Cha- Cha with Maxi which made me smile, Cha- Cha is fast
becoming one of my favorite dances! Finally Mario
introduced me to some new steps in Rumba- I was able to keep up but immediately
forgot what I had just learned.
The star of the evening was the cutest little boy
that must have been about 3 or 4. He was so excited and dancing to every song –
even keeping up with the line dances!!
We then took the time to celebrate Mario’s Birthday. Mario is such a positive force, my
first couple of months at Daza Dance he helped solidify the basic steps in all
the dances, and then differentiate movements between Latin and Smooth Dances.
He is an incredible encourager and brings the best out of everyone around him.
The party ends too soon as always, and I am feeling like Eliza
Doolittle from My Fair Lady – I could have danced all night!!!
