Today Maxi and I start the warm up with Rumba, and almost as
if on cue he begins to teach the step Mario introduced to me at the party. It
took me a while to get it right, and Maxi was ever so patient stopping in the
middle of the dance floor with that pleasant smile and waiting for me to get it
together – finally I get the step and Maxi seems more excited than I am! We
then move on to the Cha- Cha, and Maxi gives me some instruction about my
posture and how to position my body. Once we get to
Salsa, and Maxi gives me some instruction about turns.
Today as we practice my choreography Maxi points out I am
over rotating my turns. He helps
me to get a clear picture of where I should end up after each step. I implement his suggestions and can feel
the difference. The new choreography for today included a something Like a
Rockettes kick step, and a move that reminds me of the Hair Comb from Salsa- I
got so excited about the steps I had to remember to keep my form. My
choreography has gone smoother than ever. Maxi was heaping on the accolades and
praise at the end of class which went directly to my heart, confirming that all
of my hard work is paying off. My confidence is building with each session, and
I am becoming bold!
