I was encouraged as I received a donation to my GoFundMe
account that I wasn’t expecting. It feels great to receive well wishes, I have
received support not only from family and friends but from people I don’t even
know.
Since joining with Daza Dance I am dancing everywhere, on the
street, in the drug store, before an exercise class- sometimes people join in
with me. Once while waiting for a barre class I heard some music and started
dancing the Cha-Cha. A lady from Cuba jumped up to join me and we danced
together – it was a great moment. I’ve even had someone ask me if I could
teach a Salsa class – I never thought of myself as an instructor before but I
began to think about taking ballroom dance into the community as a way to
inspire people.
I have also been thinking a lot about choreography- I
actually took a choreography class at Spelman and have choreographed 3 modern
pieces for different classes. I am hearing music and coming up with concepts
for dances – even though I don’t know all of the steps I am picturing in my
mind.
Moving towards my dream in Argentina makes me alive with
possibilities and the desire to bring joy to others through dance.
