It’s always entertaining to get questions from people
watching me rehearse with napkins on my shoes. If you ever want a conversation
starter you should try it! People have asked everything from am I cleaning the
floors to if I can come to their house and clean their floors. (Ha-Ha!) I love
having the chance to explain what I am doing and where I am going!
As I continued to rehearse I got emotional thinking about how
far I’ve come and how great it is to be in a place where I can be free to be
myself, make mistakes, and grow. I thought about how when I came to Daza Dance
I was content cheering for the other students – never thinking that I would be
someone people would cheer for.
I also thought
about things I wanted to change and improve and especially how I need to stop
procrastinating. I’ve always been the type of person that waits until the last
minute and then finishes a project high on adrenaline with nerves on edge, so
it’s good to have a Coach like Antonio who keeps me accountable for my dreams.
He is a great example in goal setting and implementation, and exudes boldness
and fearlessness. One day he was asking questions about where I saw myself 5
years from now. I told him that I always wanted to write, so he asked me point
blank why I wasn’t writing. After I gave all the excuses- writer’s block etc.
He gave me a blank stare. (Actually as I was listening to myself I realized
those excuses weren’t working for me anymore.) He challenged me to create
quotes to send out every morning on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Today over
60 quotes later I am still coming up with new ones. His second challenge was
for me to start blogging January 1.
This blog is becoming a level of accountability as well as it helps me
focus on what I need to do to stay on track. It’s time to step from behind the
shadows and make the impact I am capable of.
