I was bursting with excitement to be back at Daza today. The air is filled with an explosive
energy as Antonio was working on Choreography with our special guest Choreographer
and Coach Sebastian Colavita from Argentina for our upcoming showcase in April,
Dancing Through the Decades. I got to meet Sebastian
today which was truly an honor. As I caught glimpses of the phrases and
formations in the small ballroom I could tell that this will truly be an
amazing showcase – not to be missed!
Today I had class with Maxi, who is also from Argentina and
has truly impacted me as a dancer. I first met him when he joined the teaching
staff in September and he would spend hours rehearsing in the studio. His
intensity and focus inspire me to be better, and working with him has helped
build my endurance as a dancer. Today we worked on a promenade turn in Foxtrot –
and after spacing out and being mildly confused I was finally able to get it!
We also worked on technique for twinkles in Waltz. I felt truly accomplished
and received a lot of encouragement from Maxi. This was a wonderful first class
to begin the New Year!
