TONGUES OF FIRE

Several years ago I used to be part of a poetry group known as Tongues of Fire. We would share our faith through poetry speaking on issues throughout the nation and the world. With everything happening in the world my heart is broken. This was brewing in my soul and I had to write it down:

THE HEART’S CRY

Why is it so hard for all to live in love?

I am tired, 

I am angry, 

I shout to the heavens

Feeling the agony of Earth's cry

From innocent blood spilled upon the Earth

Fear causing my mind to be consumed with Anxiety 

Unable to sleep, 

As we go about our day- as I go about my day as nothing ever happened 

Inside I am grieving for mothers, daughters, fathers, and sons

Shaken to the core with the loss of loved ones, 

I am becoming numb but not fully

Intermittently weeping 

I never want this to be normal 

but if I fully grasp the depth of pain I could shatter.

I am sitting in silence trying to calm my mind trying to be still

and through the wind I am washed with truth and hope begins to rise

in my heart.

Fear does not have then final word

Love is the answer, 

the battle-ax shattering hatred 

through the power of a connected Purpose

Through the dreams and convictions

Of those who are saying enough!

From the cries connected to eternity

From truth’s indelible whisper

The time for change has come

The Time for change is now!
