Just in case you missed some of my earlier posts
Atlanta Georgia is hot right now-as a matter of fact we have broken some
records today. I almost feel overcome by the heat, my skin is burning and I am
feeling faint, when I reach the studio I am immediately refreshed by the cool
air. As l ascend the staircase my breath is taken away by the Beautiful memory wall
with all of the showcase performances, and a continuous loop of the showcase is
playing on a television in the main ballroom! So much hard work and dedication
has gone into every photograph.
I start practicing by doing my Rumba
walks - I am having a glorious time, and as I continue to practice the notes
Antonio gave me at our last session start to click about waiting for the
turn. There is no rhyme or reason to the order of the dances today, I’m
just doing what I feel. I am just not wanting to use the bar today for smooth
dances today. I am losing my concentration – I start doing Foxtrot but my
mind is elsewhere and I start to do the progressives in the midst of promenade
turns. After regaining my focus I go through Waltz, Foxtrot and Tango making
sure to do the correct steps for each dance. My next dance is the East Coast
Swing and I work on being more ladylike with placing my hands. The last dance I
do today the Cha- Cha, and I am making sure to
extend my movements and trying to figure out how to do this in a short dress. I
am feeling as happy as I complete this session. I can’t help but think that I
have come so far in part because of all the positive words that have been
spoken over me. Some days Antonio believes more in me than I do in myself, and
he opens my eyes to new possibilities beyond my comfort zone. I am continuing
to grow, and I am challenged every day to become better.
