Today on
my way to class I am feeling a deep sense of melancholy. I am trying to shake
my frustrations. The sky is heavy with rain and is encircled by dark clouds. I
look up and I see fierce rays of light piercing through the darkness almost as
if the sky was speaking life to me telling me not to give up. As I make the
walk from the train station the wind is almost cleansing me from my frustration
and I get my mind prepared to dance. When I reach the studio Masha Maxi and Mario
greet me with hugs. I immediately start on my Rumba walks and as I am
concentrating and moving around the floor Antonio
arrives, and after catching up for a few minutes we start with Foxtrot! I feel
like I am gliding through the steps, Antonio says it’s the best I’ve done in a
long time. I am beaming with happiness!!!Tango is going well and
I am extremely happy with my waltz today. I am getting notes to Move bigger and move from the hip. I can see a
difference today as I concentrate on communicating. As we go through the Rhythm dances Cha
-Cha as always is fun and during Rumba I was so pleased that all of my
rehearsing paid off and I was much better today. I still needed some
adjustments on my turns, but overall I am pleased. During the East Coast Swing
I come completely alive; I am ecstatic. We
go through smooths again I am a bit nervous after going through doing so well
first time could I do it again.? Ha-ha this time I didn’t feel confident of the
steps but I still feel like I did well. I get a note to
lead with the heel as I move around the floor. We spend significant time
working on arms and letting the arms
convey the emotion of the dance. I need to mirror Antonio in the waltz so we
utilize the reflection in one of the portraits to tighten up the movement. I really feel like I am moving to a
different level and learning to master the technique associated with each movement.
Today being able to dance made me feel like a new person; no matter what mood I
am in when I dance I return to joy.
