Today with coach Antonio we warm up with a lively swing,
cha-cha, and Rumba. I was so happy as we went through several steps that took
me weeks to master and now were practically effortless. Now it is time to take it up a notch as
I am introduced to several new steps in each dance that I am sure will be
broken down in future classes.
As we began the choreography I was stumbling through a jazz
box movement. Antonio told me If
you fall I will let you- I will give you support but ultimately you have to
learn on to stand on your own two feet. There was a double meaning in that
statement with life applications. It is apparent to me that from my first class
I have been in Eagle Training – Antonio is teaching me soar; to be bold in my
decisions in dance and in life without fear of failure and to not use people or
things as crutches.
Today there was even a second lesson- In life you can’t go
back and change the past, if you make a mistake try to learn from it so you
don’t keep repeating it. Dance is powerful because you can go back and correct every
mistake and move on as if nothing happened. As I am absorbing these lessons I try the step again, somehow
I make an abstract connection between the words of wisdom and the movement and
am able to do the steps perfectly. For me I can truly see how wisdom gives
depth and power to dance.
