I was back in the studio today, and this time I had the
large ballroom to myself. I went
through the first few phrases of the choreography focusing on technique, but I
was getting frustrated as I was executing my turns and focusing on directions. I also practiced
the lift motion trying to recreate the feeling from standing on the furniture. As
I continued to move through the steps I became more confident, and the rhythm
became clearer in connection with the movement.
Periodically I looked up and was inspired by the photos of
Masha and Antonio that encircle the ballroom. The pictures convey the ethereal
connection they have when they dance, it’s almost as if the camera captured
their spirits. That type of connection is what I strive for and will keep
moving towards.
