It's that time of year again- where one snowflake hits
the ground in Georgia and everyone goes running for cover. No Grocery Store in
a 100 mile radius has bread or milk, and we become a joke on late night TV
because of our inability to deal with cold weather. Because of the way Georgia
reacts to snow it is always a good idea to stay indoors, and these forced times
of stillness help me go into deep thought.
Lately I have been thinking about how dance reflects
life, how sometimes you can't live a life that is choreographed, you must be
bold and spontaneous. You may stumble, you may fall, and when you get up you
may have lost your place, but with strength and determination you can get back
in step. I've also thought about how the deeper the roots of a tree the more
turmoil and storms it can withstand.
Sometimes success can be delayed, and I
believe when it is delayed it is because something is coming that is so great
that additional time of character and foundation building is needed for
longevity to be achieved. I see evidence of this in my life, and I am at a
place now where I see all of my mistakes, problems, and difficulties have
worked together for my good. I am becoming stronger day by day- in addition to
my physical strength I am becoming mentally and spiritually strong through the
power of Dance.
