One of the things I truly appreciate about Antonio is that
he is the complete opposite of me in many ways and gives me a different
perspective on life. I’ve learned so much from our deep Philosophical
discussions that I know one of the keys to world peace is to be able to respect
and learn from people who are different from you.
We warmed up with the smooth dances and for the first time
today I felt a personal triumph with Foxtrot, which used to be the dance I
would fall apart on, but today I felt comfortable and confident. As we went through Tango I had a shaky
start and a bold finish. Finally we went through waltz and I could not conceal
how happy I felt at the ease and fluidity of the steps thinking back to how far
I have come in that dance. When we got to the choreography, however, I got
stuck on the sequence triple step- kick ball change- rock step. Actually I stayed
perplexed until the very last moments of class when I finally was able to place
the steps together.
Today’s life lesson came in the form of a sermon – that’s
right you read correct-even though Antonio is an Atheist he can preach! Some of
the reasons I have made several positive changes in my life is because I am so
shocked to hear what he says about God I listen intently to what he says and
immediately put the words into action. I never expected to hear a sermon on the
Resurrection- actually I don’t even know if he realized he was preaching the
empty cross, which is a sermon I’ve heard several different ways, but he added
fresh perspective and his unique insight. He was so eloquent in his delivery
and once again I was totally perplexed that someone who doesn’t even believe in
God can communicate the concept of a Risen Savior. I can truly appreciate that
Antonio knows me well enough to know what will motivate me the most; I am so
deeply inspired and encouraged!
