The choreography section broken down each phrase to the
smallest increments, and Coach gave out a considerable amount of tough love as
we began finding perfection in each step. He referenced Bob Fosse as he
encouraged me to “rise from the dead” and put pizazz in my movement. At one
point we were doing something similar to the Stairmaster on the end tables and
I was to focus on the momentum upward and incorporate that feeling in my dance.
Even though at times I felt flustered I was smiling on the inside because I know
he sees the dancer I could become. Something Antonio said that greatly impacted
me was “are you afraid of falling? It won’t be the first time and it won’t be
the last time. Learn from mistakes and move on.” I truly appreciate that
Antonio does not let me become stagnant but constantly challenges me to reach
higher and overcome greater obstacles.
