Today I am back with Maxi and we started warming up with Rumba.
These days I am feeling more comfortable with Rumba; when I first started doing
ballroom dance I was intimidated by its vulnerability and rawness of emotion.
It’s easier for me to internalize the feelings of a waltz with its beautiful, almost
mythical views of love and poetic lyrics, but Rumba requires you pouring out
your heart on the stage. We moved
on through the Cha- Cha and the East Coast Swing. Maxi threw in some turns I
had never seen before, but I was able to keep up.
As we moved on to the choreography Maxi seemed pleased that
I remembered the first part, and after cleaning up some loose ends we moved on-
Finally all my Twist homework paid off as we incorporated it into my routine. I
started to feel anxious learning the new parts tonight, I was overwhelmed with
a desire to be perfect in execution. I had to keep reminding myself to relax
and stay in the moment. The more I rehearse the easier it will be to live out
the spirit of my song which is pure joy! Ha! I Feel Good!
