ARGENTINA BOUND!

Happy New Year! I am Kamaria George, a student at Daza Dance Ballroom Academy. In August of this year I will be one of the students travelling to compete with Antonio in Buenos Aires. My Journey at Daza Dance began on Monday, April 13th 2015 when I took my first Salsa class. Little did I know how I would cultivate a love for Ballroom Dance, and how Dance would help me begin a transition from fear to faith. For my first stretch goal I did a Waltz in the Fall Showcase which was a truly incredible experience that went beyond my imagination. As my waltz was being fine-tuned in my final month I started to develop a desire to do competitions, but it seemed like such a faraway dream that I kept it to myself. To my surprise one day in rehearsal Antonio asked me if I had thought about competing. He told me he believed in me and thought I could do it -not only that he thought I should go to Argentina! My heart stopped!!! I knew in that moment not only that this was what I supposed to do, but I was already visualizing myself In Argentina and could feel myself dancing on the competition floor.

I had the desire and the talent -all I needed now were the finances. On my Birthday September 30, I started the fundraising campaign #ArgentinaDream on Facebook, Instagram, and twitter with a goal of raising $10,000. To date I have raised over $1400 and am fully committed to making this miracle happen. I will be a guest blogger on this page for the next 8 months recording my daily progress in dance and in fundraising. I am looking forward to the process and hope to encourage others along the way. For my daily inspirational phrase you can follow me on twitter at @GeorgeKamaria or on Instagram at kamaria.s.george.atl.  I would like to thank Antonio for letting me use his page and for helping me not only to be the best dancer I can be, but to strive for the best in every area of my life. 2016 has begun! I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous New Year. May we all achieve our dreams together!
